The
Peacekeepers Demining Fund was created to support mine action projects
in the name of specific peacekeepers. It is our hope to use this
Fund to continuously clear landmines in areas where Canadian's are
serving. It is also our hope that this work reminds Canadians of
the service of the Canadian Forces, police and other peacekeepers
and also serves to remind them of the gratitude of Canadians.
Landmines are the greatest single threat to Peacekeepers.
Canadian soldiers and police officers serve as Peacekeepers and
are a recognized presence in far reaching places around the globe
struggling to regain order. Peacekeepers have been deployed to some
of the most challenged regions experiencing or recovering from armed
conflict. They make a difference through a commitment to peace and
proven ability to do the job.
Take a moment to review the peacekeepers who have been recognised
in the past by viewing the Hall of Honour. Make the effort to recognise
peacekeepers by supporting our current Peacekeepers Demining Fund
project.
Someone, someplace in the world is killed by an landmine every
thirty minutes, twenty-four hours a day.
